Orbit Play 0.4.0 (Beta)

Orbit Play is a free, open-source Remote Play app for jailbroken PS5s on Mac, Windows and Linux. Stream over your local network without a PSN sign-in, including from offline PS5 accounts that have never been linked to PSN. Account setup, the account ID, the Remote Play PIN, pairing and streaming all happen in one desktop app, so there’s no base64 account-ID conversion, PIN tool or separate activation payload to run.

This update brings a sharper picture, controller feedback, a microphone and controls you set yourself.

  • HEVC and hardware decoding. Choose HEVC under Playback for a sharper picture at the same bitrate. Orbit Play now decodes video on your computer’s graphics hardware when it can: VideoToolbox on Mac, D3D11VA on Windows and Vulkan on Linux. When it can’t, it decodes on the processor as before. H.264 stays the default.
  • Rumble, adaptive triggers and haptics. Rumble and DualSense trigger resistance from your games now reach your controller. With a USB cable, haptics play on the DualSense itself; over Bluetooth they become rumble. Choose the rumble strength, or turn triggers off, under Playback.
  • Microphone. Press M, the player’s Mic button or the DualSense mute button to talk through your computer’s default microphone. It starts muted in every stream.
  • Touchpad swipes. Finger movement on the DualSense touchpad now reaches the PS5, not just the click.
  • Your own keys, and mouse aiming. The new Controls screen lets you change every keyboard and mouse binding. Turn on Aim with the mouse to move the right stick with your mouse; F2 releases it.
  • Login passcodes. If a PS5 profile has a login passcode, Orbit Play asks for it before the stream starts instead of timing out. It keeps the passcode only until you quit, so reconnects don’t ask again.
  • Update notice. Once a day, Orbit Play checks GitHub for a newer version and shows it on the main menu. Nothing about you or your PS5 is sent. Turn it off under Console setup → Profile & connection options.

Install on your computer

Choose the package for your computer from Assets: the macOS DMG for Apple Silicon Macs, the Windows x64 ZIP, or the Linux x64 or arm64 AppImage. Windows 11 on ARM uses the x64 ZIP. See the installation guide above for requirements and first-launch permissions.

You only need to download the desktop app. It includes the player and 0.4.0 PS5 helper, and can start the helper for you. The standalone orbit-play-0.4.0-ps5.elf in Assets is optional, for those who prefer to load it themselves.

Start on your PS5

Load your jailbreak, open Payload Manager or enable an ELF loader, and stay logged into the PS5 profile you want to use. In Orbit Play, enter the console’s IP address and choose Start helper on PS5. Enter the six-digit trust code shown on the PS5, then pair and play. If the profile needs it, Orbit Play offers account setup before pairing.

Orbit Play has been tested on PS5 firmware 13.60 with Relapse and Payload Manager v0.5.2. Other firmware may work but is untested.

Update from an earlier version

Stop your stream, quit Orbit Play and replace the computer app. Stop the old helper in Payload Manager, then choose Start helper on PS5 in the new app. Replacing the ELF file alone does not stop a running helper. If it cannot be stopped, fully restart the PS5 and reload the jailbreak first.

Your saved pairings and playback settings remain. Enter the new trust code when asked. The new settings start with H.264, hardware decoding on, normal rumble, adaptive triggers and USB haptics on, and mouse aiming off.

On a Mac: macOS asks for microphone access the first time you turn the microphone on. For DualSense haptics over USB, set the controller’s audio device to 4 channels in Audio MIDI Setup (Applications → Utilities); otherwise haptics play as rumble.

Local network only: keep your computer and PS5 on the same network, with the PS5 awake. For account setup, we recommend a separate PS5 profile with no saves: creating a local account ID may make existing saves inaccessible. Account setup and save risks.
